Ceritanya, si TechieDiva ama temennya mo beli domain. Trus mereka berdua ngecek di GoDaddy, masih tersedia ato gak. Ternyata masih. Berhubung saat itu mereka mikir masih belum siap untuk ngurusin domain itu, ya udah, mereka tunda dulu belinya. Esok harinya, saat iseng” ngecek, ternyata domain name tsb udah gak tersedia alias udah dibeli orang. Cek punya cek, dari catatan Whois, domain tersebut terdaftar hanya berselang beberapa menit setelah si TechieDiva ama temennya itu ngecek di GoDaddy.

Mencurigakan kan?

Kejadian yg sama juga dialami oleh beberapa pengguna internet lain. Masih berhubungan dng GoDaddy.

Contohnya ini:

I came back the next day to purchase and it was taken. I talked to the stargate guys on web chat and spoke with their VP of sales. He swore up and down that they did not do that. And conjectured that maybe Verisign was selling the queries, because that is ultimately where the queries go. I didn’t talk to the godaddy people, but it is possible that they are farming the domains not bought and selling the list to potential buyers. I added to cart on Novemeber 14th and it was gone on November 15th 2005.

Kabarnya, kasus” semacam ini gak hanya terjadi di GoDaddy aja, tapi juga di domain registrar yg lain. Dan tampaknya, tindakan” tidak terpuji semacam ini sudah “cukup wajar” di kalangan registrar. Coba baca cuplikan dari blog Monkey Bites berikut:

That means everyone knows that it is a potential quality TLD. The reason they send the query out is due the amount of expired and waiting to be deleted domains. Registrars want to get you the domain that you ask for, so they query everyone to see if it is available.

Yah, intinya, kalo emang serius mo ambil domain name, gak usah pk ditunda”. Begitu ada duit, langsung cek, kalo available ya langsung sikat, heheheh.
